About Me
My warm, friendly and outgoing personality helps me to connect with people and build strong relationships with students from across the world. Culturally sensitive and aware, I am patient and a great listener, which makes learners feel at ease especially when they find it hard to communicate in English no matter which country they may be from or the age they are.
I have a love for travelling, with an open mind to experiencing new cultures and to meet people from different parts of the world. I have travelled extensively in North and South America, India, South Africa, Japan and Europe. I have also been to Barbados which was a wonderful experience.
I enjoy drawing, painting, connecting with nature, reading and listening to podcasts on the purpose and meaning in life.
I started my teaching career in primary teaching, working in lots of different schools and age groups (4-11) in the North East of England. I worked in India for a Non-Government Organisation (NGO), Deepalaya. My role involved providing English classes to underprivileged children in the slums of Delhi.
After 10 years in primary education, I went on to teaching English as a Second Language to refugees, asylum seekers and young learners in colleges and local authorities. I have also taught English as a Foreign Language in Chile, India and in the UK. Pre-Covid, I worked in a private language school, teaching English to professionals and teenagers from Europe, South America, Asia and the Middle East.
